We aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. We are champions for, and supporters of, vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting changes for animals in our society.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As all of you probably know, I'm not the biggest fan of running. And for anyone who has been unfortunate enough to have been running with me, you'll know thats quite an understatement. So what better way could I think of to raise money for an issue close to my heart? Running 26.2 miles (a whole 26 more miles than I would like) on the 3rd of October in the 2021 London Marathon. Oh and if that's not enough motivation to donate? That will be my second marathon, as I attempt to run the 2020 Virtual London Marathon on October 4th with 6 weeks notice, and no training.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is here for every dog and cat and has been since 1860, caring for over 7,000 animals every year. One of these animals back in the dark December days of 2011 was Blake. Rescued from a travellers site days before Christmas along with the rest of his litter, Battersea took care of this litter of helpless puppies until we were fortunate enough to come along and take him home. But many more animals still need their help. A member of the family for almost 8 years now, Blake has provided us with so much love and along with every other Battersea dog we've met have proved every rescue animal misconception wrong. Battersea never give up on an animal until they find their forever home, even if it isn't the first time they have found themselves in their care. This isn't cheap. It costs around £50,000 every day to care for all the animals across Battersea's three centres.

So what does your money mean?

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home aims never to turn a dog or cat away in need of their help.

  • £8 will cover the cost of caring for hand-rearing puppies for one month, including vaccinations to protect against illnesses and disease.
  • £10 can buy a blanket for a dog or cat to ensure they keep warm in their kennel.
  • £12 will cover the cost of giving sick kittens round-the-clock nursing care for one month.
  • £15 will pay for Battersea to microchip a dog or cat so if they get lost again they can be reunited with their owner.
  • £20 will cover the screening of four cats for Leukaemia and FIV, ensuring they get the vital treatment they need.

Any amount big, small, or even a social media promotion will make a difference.

Help me reach my target of £2,000 - the complete cost of one dog's stay at Battersea.

Because if it weren't for Battersea, who knows where Blake would be today. And who knows where the dogs in their kennels right now could be or what they will for others with your support.
