About the 14 Bells Bike Ride: How to take part
The 14 Bells Bike Ride is set to take place on Sunday 25th March 2012 with riders setting off from The Six Bells, a Fuller's pub, in Thame. The ride will span three counties - Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire - with all money raised going to Oxfordshire charity Sobell House.
If you are interested in cycling the route with The Belles of The Bells on Sunday 25th March please email sixbellsbike@yahoo.com for more information.
If you would like to sponsor us, please email Susanna at sixbellsbike@yahoo.com or call her on 07580 436760 to discuss what you or your company can do for the 14 Bells Bike Ride, and what we can do for you; there are many options from giving money to donating a raffle prize / piece of kit / apparel. We are able to include your company's logo on our publicity and may be able to offer you the opportunity to promote yourself on the day of the ride itself.

The 14 Bells Bike Ride idea was born from an observation that there are four Fuller's Master Cellarman pubs in the locality of Thame town, which share one or more Bells in its name. Sam Davey, General Manager of The Six Bells pub in Thame, wanted to raise money for local charity Sobell House and decided that a bike ride incorporating four Bell pubs in the area was rather fitting. The 55-mile cycle route intends to start at The Six Bells in Thame, going on to The Bell in Chearsley, The Bell in Bierton and then reaching The Five Bells in Leighton Buzzard, before the entrants of the ride have the option of either finishing their ride or by completing the loop by cycling back to host pub The Six Bells again.
We are raising money for local charity, Sobell House Hospice, whose aim is to support the Sir Michael Sobell House Hospice in providing palliative and end of life care to the residents of Oxfordshire. The Hospice offers physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement. The focus is on quality of life, respecting the uniqueness of each person, and respect for the dignity of all users of the service. The hospice currently costs around £4 million a year to run, much of which is raised through the support and generosity of individuals and companies throughout the community.
Heritage
The Six Bells is a beautiful old coaching inn right in the heart of the historic market town of Thame. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with log fires in the winter and a large patio and raised decking area for the summer months. We offer a fantastic, exciting modern menu with quirky retro dishes, along with pub favourites, and our daily changing blackboard specials. We use locally sourced seasonal produce where we can. Our Fullers cask conditioned ales, local micro brewery ales, extensive wine list, great coffee and exemplary service make The Six Bells a winning combination.
Organisers: The Belles of The Bells!
Sam Davey, The Six Bells General Manager and 14 Bells Bike Ride Event Organiser
Sam has over 20 years' experience in the hospitality industry and currently manages The Six Bells, a Fuller's pub in Thame. Her passion for bikes and cycling as a sport is reflected in the pub's decor, with a strong yet quirky cycling theme running throughout the establishment. The refurbishment of the pub was carried out last February and resulted in great admiration from cycling enthusiasts and locals alike. From a great chandelier made from an old bicycle wheel, to the last orders "time" bell made from a cog, bicycle chain and pedals. Sam loves her bike as much as her pub, and can often be found "relaxing" between busy shifts, by riding her bike for 20 miles!!
Susanna Jeffery (Suzi Q), Event Co-Organiser and Marketing and Publicity
Susanna has worked at The Six Bells since last March and has a background in sales and marketing. Her degree was in Marketing and Psychology and, since graduating from Keele University in 2007, has worked in hospitality as well as taking on the role as Marketing Executive for The Outdoors Show. Susanna loves the outdoors (especially coastal walks) and shares Sam's passion for cycling and a challenge!
