In honor of Sir Terry Pratchett, one of my all-time favorite authors and a satirical inspiration to us all, I am dedicating my half-marathon run (and hopefully many donations) to Terry's favorite charity, the Orangutan Foundation.

Why am I doing it?

Terry was a Trustee at the Orangutan Foundation for 23 years and even dedicated a much loved character in his Discworld novels to the species (ook). I can't think of a better way to honor his memory than by continuing his legacy in helping these amazingly cool creatures. For more info on the current situation for orangutans, be sure to check out Terry's BBC documentary Terry Pratchett Facing Extinction (2013).

What will your donation get?

Along with helping preserve this amazing species, each donation of 10 Euros or more will get your name printed on my shirt that I will wear during the race. If I reach my donation goal of 300 Euros, I will run the entire race wearing a wizard hat (and yes, it will be hilarious). 

Not only will your donations help support orangutans, but it will also be a great motivation to get me to run faster...because it would be slightly ridiculous for me to run a slow half-marathon in a wizard hat. The best part is, during the race, everyone will know who contributed to my insanity.
