Story

“The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people, and he was most generous during Ramadan,” (Hadith, Bukhari).

After rising tensions in the West Bank, worshippers at Masjid Al Aqsa are being attacked with soldiers opening fire with rubber bullets and stun grenades on worshippers. This has left over 163 people injured and many being taken to the Al Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem.

The hospital has reported that at least 9 people so far have lost sight in either one or both eyes due to rubber bullet wounds, 83 patients have been admitted with other serious rubber bullet wounds and an additional 25 people have been admitted with other severe injuries!

We have pledged to support Masjid Al Falaah's emergency appeal to support the hospital with emergency medical supplies. This includes funds for their emergency Zakat fund, which will be utilised to treat people who are zakat eligible. As we scramble to make the most of these last few days of Ramadhan, please give of what you can to help us reach our target.

Jazakumullah Khair- Sofia

More Information on Al-Makassed Hospital:

Al-Makassed is the only hospital in Palestine that provides heart surgeries for small infants and kids. All other hospitals don't have either the equipment or resources.

With only 57 hospitals for 2.1 million population of Palestine, Al Makassed charitable hospital is suffering from a lack of resources.

The hospital receives over 1000 cases daily, in times of conflict and there are only 82 beds to serve people from all Palestine- Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem, and also occupied Palestine. Due to Covid, Hospital’s revenues decreased by 80% and the expenses kept increasing. Even an empty bed costs them £285.

Al-Makassed Islamic Charitable Hospital has collaborated with Masjid Al Falaah, Birmingham to help provide life-saving treatment to the worshippers injured in Al-Aqsa Complex, Palestine. Masjid Al Falaah aspires to offer support to the distressed, sick, able, and differently-abled persons in order to improve the quality of life for everyone in the community.
