Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity is the official charity of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Find out more at www.hospitalcharity.org Your support is much appreciated.

Story

On the 30th June, a group of colleagues from Solvay Chemical Company's Oldbury site, together with friends and family, will attempt to walk stage 1 of the Yorkshire Dales 'Celebration Way', a hike of some 20 miles from Skipton to Settle. The walk starts in the grounds of Skipton Castle, and will involve 3,730ft of climbing, and will take in some of the Dales' most renowned scenery.

We are raising money in support of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham charity's Elderly Care Appeal. This fantastic cause is raising money to bring specialist entertainment systems, called My Life Dementia systems to hospitals across the West Midlands (Heartlands  Hospital, Solihull Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham).

These My Life units enable patients with dementia to communicate more effectively with both loved ones and hospital staff, and provide interactive software to help encourage dialogue and aid memory in dementia patients.

The units also provide reminiscence activities such as movie and film clips from days gone by, and games on the units encourage activity. These can be personalised to suit individual patients, and families can get involved too.

The My Life systems cost £1,500 each, and we are aiming to raise enough money to fund 4 of the units.

Further details of the appeal can be found at https://www.qehb.org/elderlycare

We hope you will consider sponsoring us for this wonderful cause, that looks to improve the lives of dementia patients across the region.
