In 2011 my daughter, Delilah, was severely burned in an accident. She sustained 50% full thickness burns. She spent nearly two months in intensive care and we are lucky to still have her in our lives. She wore pressure garments covering her whole body for a year and has at had endless therapy. She has undergone numerous trips to theatre (24 at the last count) for both functional and cosmetic improvement. She has had four trips to theatre in the last 3 months and has had a skin expander in her neck over the summer to grow skin to replace scared tissue on her cheek. She has been through an awful lot, however is the happiest, bravest, most confident child who touches the hearts of everyone who meets her.
The children's burns club provides support and activities (camps, zoo days etc) to children who have been injured. As Delilah grows and becomes aware of her scarring, it will be a great opportunity to meet other burned children and for me to meet other parents. The club also provides psychological and social support for dealing with disfigurement and raising awareness about burns.

Sal and I are running the Bristol Half marathon (21/9) , Tough Mudder (26/10: grueling 13 miles with horrendous obstacles (icy water, jumps, walls, electric shocks for those not familiar) and the Grim blackout challenge (1/11: a 10k, hilly trail run in the dark).
Many thanks for your support!
