Great South Run 2017 · 22 October 2017 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. My sister and I are hoping to raise as much as we can for The British Heart Foundation, the single biggest funder of cardiovascular research in the UK, by both running the Great South Run; Bella the junior one (2 miles) and myself the senior one (10 miles).

There are many forms of cardiovascular disease, with coronary heart disease (CHD) being the most common type. CHD occurs when coronary arteries become narrowed, and is the leading cause of death worldwide. In the UK, one in seven men and one in eleven women die from CHD and there are currently 2.3 million people having to live with it.

Our dad is one of them. In 2012, our dad went into surgery for a heart bypass to treat his CHD, an operation that made us believe he may never be able to run again. Since then he's run 3 marathons, 5 great South Runs (making this his tenth in a row) and trains every single day, whilst also putting up with 5 girls in the house...!

He's one of the strongest people you could ever have the pleasure to meet, and we would be so thankful if you could donate whatever you can towards a cause that not only works to save lives all over the UK, but one that could save the life of the most important person in our worlds.

Please sponsor us as we "fight for every heartbeat"!

Thank you xxx
