As a classical singer, I wanted to combine an evening of music and fundraising to form something special, an event to remember with my very own personal touch. As many of you will know, I am a strong supporter of charitable work and have previously supported other charities such as Macmillan Nurses in memory of my mum Joanna, who died from cancer in 2004 and also BRAKE, the road safety charity in memory of my sister Henrietta, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2002. However, what I came to realise was that I hadn't had the chance to dedicate an event to both of them simultaneously. Both my mum and my sister adored charity work which led my sister to do a parachute jump in aid of Cancer Research for my mum in 1998 whilst she was battling with cancer. Therefore, my choice of charity was by no means difficult as it is one that I know they would both strongly support.

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading cancer charity for children and young people, providing clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to them and their families. They aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer from its initial diagnosis, treatment, life after treatment, and in some cases bereavement. I have specifically chosen this charity because, having had a personal insight into cancer and its impact on the family, I would like to show my utmost support to CLIC Sargent and all they do, as they continue their incredible work across the country.

Music always played a large role in my family's life ever since we were young children and my sister and mum were strong supporters of me continuing it into later life. They are both the stimuli behind this event and I would like to dedicate it in memory of them both.

Whether you are able to attend my event or not, your support means everything to both me and CLIC Sargent. You are not only supporting me as I embark on my singing career, but also an INCREDIBLE cause run by incredible people who continue to make the lives of cancer victims and their family members just that bit better. Just picture yourselves in these peoples' shoes, I most certainly can and I can assure you that the members of CLIC Sargent are life saviours in many of these peoples' lives and will continue to be so for the rest of their lives. So please, help me and join me in supporting CLIC Sargent and all that they stand for.
