Story

On April 22 I am running the London Marathon. This has been a lifelong challenge and it has become even more meaningful to me now that I have the chance to do it for 2 very important charities.

So far I have raised £1700 for Arthritis Care, and I am doing this for my gorgeous mum who over the past 5 years has had a really tough time from this horrible disease. Now that I have reached my fundraising target for them, I am raising money for Tom’s Trust.

In the past 6 years, since Tom’s death, the trust has achieved many wonderful and heart warming things. From supporting young people working for Live magazine, to funding a boxing academy, offering support to Kids Company, offering bursaries which have allowed students to attend both Marlborough College and Cambridge University.

I had the absolute privilege of visiting one of the projects Tom’s Trust supports, Nightingale School. Which is a school for children excluded from the main-stream system; my morning there was life-changing. Not only was the head teacher, Jonty Clark, the most incredible, compassionate and wise teacher I have ever met, but I was over whelmed by the farm that Tom’s Trust had funded. Greeted by a pupil being dragged along by a crazy sheep dog we went on to see the students caring for the pigs, sheep, alpacas, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and hens. Watching all of this was a powerful message of how animals can have such a strong impact on young people who suffer from tough times – socially, emotionally and educationally. So running the marathon is for Tom too, to support the wonderful work the Trust continues to do.

On the big day I will be thinking of my mum, my mate Tom and I shall also be thinking about the farm at The Nightingale School!

So thank you for visiting my Justgiving site and if you can please do dig deeply – your money goes towards Tom’s Trust and your support will really spur me on.

Thank you.
