Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Sophie's JustGiving page.
On 12 May 2013 I was involved in a terrible accident and was trapped under a car. I was airlifted by the Great North Air Ambulance Service to the RVI hospital in Newcastle and am now on the paediatric neurology ward as I suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen. I have 5 broken bones and had an operation to pin both of my thigh bones, but am healing well. My breaks are now stable enough for me to begin Neuro Physio rehabilitation. I am currently unable to do anything for myself as my brain has to relearn and reroute all the pathways for movement and coordination, but I am a determined young lady and I have already made independent attempts to move my arms and hands and am looking forward to my hydrotherapy and music therapy rehab. Everyone involved with my care has been amazing and hopefully my feisty, outgoing and determined nature will help me to make good progress in my recovery although, along with my mummy and daddy we have a long road ahead of us.
Without the Great North Air Ambulance Service I would probably not still be here today. I would like to show my (and all my family's) support and thanks, by helping to raise as much money as possible so they can continue their amazing service, and continue saving lives. Many people have generously asked what they can do to help and support us. Unfortunately, while we're still in hospital in Newcastle there's not a lot anyone can do. We have therefore set up this donation page so that, if people want to, they can show us their support this way, to help us show our gratitude to the amazing team who helped save my life.
So please dig deep and donate now.
