In our 2nd year at Rock UK we have the opportunity to go to Lesotho, Southern Africa for 2 weeks in January 2020. 

We will be teaming up with a Christian Outdoor Centre in Lesotho called Durham-Lesotho Link (http://www.durham-lesotholink.org.uk/) to run an outdoor adventure camp for children from child-headed households. Activities include climbing and canoeing as well as worship and bible study.

We are hoping to raise £250 each (£1250 in total) to give to the centre to help keep them running and providing fun breaks for orphans who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. All the money we raise will go to the centre in Lesotho, e.g. providing food and accommodation for the kids we will be hosting at the camp. Rock UK will pay for our flights and other expenses.

In order to raise the money, we will be doing a few fundraising events,  which include:

SOUTH WALES TOUR:

In order to raise the money, we will be doing a 3 day challenge on the 19th-21st October around the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. 

DAY 1:

- Gorge Walk the Sychryd Gorge 

- Walk for 2 hours to Porth Yr Ogof cave

- Explore Porth Yr Ogof cave which is one of the most dangerous caves in the UK (but only if you don't know where your going :D)

- Walk for 4 hr 30 mins to Storey Arms where we will camp overnight

DAY 2:

- Walk 16 km (6 hrs) over Corn Du, Pen Y Fan, Cribyn and Fan Y Big via the Canadian Bomber Memorial to Blaen Y Glyn

- Wade through the disused Torpantau railway tunnel in Blaen Y Glyn 

- Walk to Ponsticill Reservoir where we will camp for the 2nd night

DAY 3:

- Kayak 1.7 km across Ponsticill Reservoir

- Walk 3.5 km to Twynau Gwynion 

- Climb for 2 hours at Twynau Gwynion Quarries

- Walk for 2.1 miles (40mins)

- Cycle 9 miles (1hr) to Summit Centre

- Climb at Summit Centre

- Celebrate with our colleagues and supporters
