Sahara Trek · 19 November 2011
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 19 November I will be taking part in a week trek across the Sahara Desert. The trek covers 100km of the desert and with no paths or facilities, we will be reliant on our local guides and camping in a bedouin tent each night (see attached photos from previous people completing this trek).
This originally started as an 'impulsive' personal challenge (I arranged & booked the end of Oct), but I also wanted to tie in a charity element to try and raise money for Village of Hope, a charity based in South Africa I visited in Oct 2010.
The Village of Hope (VOH) seeks to help children infected or affected by HIV, AIDS and TB in two different ways: they have a nine bed children’s unit to support those infected by HIV and AIDS and they also run community-based sports (football/netball) and life skills outreach in the townships.
Here is a link to their blog where you can read more about the story behind the VOH: http://thembavillageofhope.blogspot.com/
Any donations you can give, however big or small will be greatly appreciated.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
