Night Strider 2016 · 8 October 2016 ·

St Luke’s is an independent charity caring for terminally ill adults and their loved ones across Sheffield. Each year, we care for around 1,900 patients most of whom are cared for in their own home by our Specialist Palliative Care Community team.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This JustGiving Page is set up as a group fundraiser in memory of Andrea Burke to sponsor Debs (Andrea's wife), their Gym Family and all those in the Motor Team/Serious Injury Team at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors that are taking part in this year's Night Strider Walk (either taking on a 10K or half marathon route) all in aid of raising money for the St Luke's Hospice Sheffield.

On 19 July 2016, we lost a great friend and colleague in Andrea after her short yet courageous battle against cancer. It is still hard to believe that Andrea is no longer with us.

We are privileged, at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, to have worked with Andrea as a close colleague. Andrea was a fun loving boss who had time for everyone. She adored her team, (the Motor/Serious Injury Team), and we, her team, adored her back. Andrea, we are told, drew enormous strength during her illness from the support we gave her and we continue to talk about her and share fond memories. Her bubbly personality and smile is sorely missed in the office. The place is not the same without her!

Andrea regularly attended the gym with her wife Debs. They became such good friends with their gym buddies they were like family, often arranging their own walking activities together and enjoying social nights out with Andrea's love of Sauvignon Blanc! The love and support their Gym Family have given Debs has been overwhelming. They too miss Andrea very much.

Everyone who knew Andrea warmed to her positive energy and upbeat style which was infectious and gave everyone a lift. Andrea loved with every bone in her body and the depth of her love was immeasurable.

Andrea herself took part in the St Luke’s Night Strider Walk last year and so it seems fitting, as a team and for those closest to her, to do it this year in her memory. Andrea was also cared for by the wonderful staff at the St Luke's Hospice who also provided care and support to Debs and family during a very difficult time. We would like to show our appreciation by taking part in this event to say THANK YOU.

We are sure Andrea would find it amusing that so many people are going to don their trainers and wear night glow garments around the streets of Sheffield just for her!!

We should be grateful if you would kindly consider sponsoring us to remember Andrea and help a really good cause. Every single donation, big or small is greatly appreciated. We thank you in advance.
