We are a mixed bunch of novice and more seasoned athletes (we’ll leave you to work out who’s who), but we’re united in wanting to raise some funds to help the children at our local school.
The school is embarking on a project to improve its outdoor areas, including creating a quiet space in the playground for children to read or simply relax in, and introducing shaded areas for protection from the sun.
This project will have a long term impact. Over 300 children use the playground every school day, and not everyone wants to be running around all the time. Think about it like this: if running around is for health, then a quiet space to rest and recharge is for wellbeing. Both health and wellbeing are really important to all our lives - and that's what this outdoor improvement project is all about.
Along with many other schools around the country, Cambridgeshire schools are facing a funding crisis, and the sort of money required to make significant improvements to the outdoor environment at St Philip's simply won’t come from statutory funding. So, if you can spare just a few pounds to support our local school, and this brilliant project, it would really help us to know that all this training is going to make a difference.
And if you see any of us out training around Romsey (or further afield), please say hello!
