"We are fundraising for a much needed playroom. It will have a valuable impact and improve the lives of many of our children and young people. Hospitals can be very daunting and scary places for children. The playroom will give these kids a space to have fun whilst recovering, a space to play..research has shown how play actually speeds up the recovery process in children, we want to give our patients the best care and environment there is.
As a nursing team we are determined to complete this cycle ride, and get the playroom built. So far this appeal has raised over £70,000 but we need to get to £250,000 to make that happen!
We have been training together with friends and a family joining us to provide support and encouragement. We were not all cyclists a few weeks ago!! Please watch our progress over the next few weeks hopefully not too many bumps and bruises to patch up!"
Esther Rantzen, CBE publicly launched this appeal in March and will be back again to Lister for the grand opening next Spring- please help us to make this a reality! Visit www.magicofplay.org to see the special appeal DVD starring Esther and our amazing patients explaining why the playroom is so important to them..
£100 buys activity kits for children who can't leave their beds..
£400 buys a computer that helps the children keep up with their homework
£500 will equip the sensory play area for children who have special needs
£2500 will provide the outdoor play equipment
£10,000 will provide the internal fit out of the playroom
