Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm going to Nepal in April with Girlguiding Scotland to do a magnificent fundraising challenge trek, with spectacular scenery and fascinating culture, going to the magnificent Langtang region of the Himalayas, open again for trekking after 2015’s devastating earthquake.
We trek upto 8 hours a day through the wooded gorges, yak pastures and rocky ridges of the Langtang valley, with its friendly Tibetan-style culture and awe-inspiring mountain views. We stay in teahouses in small villages en-route, allowing a wonderful insight to the daily lives of the local people.
We are only allowed to carry 6kg each day which is to include 3 litres of water and our main bag which is to be 10kg will be transported by truck, porter and even camels. So there's not much scope for luxuries and it's even suggested, we wear one outfit and only carry one spare for the trip - eek.
Our trek culminates in historic Nuwakot village, in one of the districts that suffered most from the earthquake. Where we will actively support the re-building project and get involved in the practical work, a rewarding way to give something back to this magnificent country.
This is a huge undertaking for me as I need to train for 16 weeks and build stamina for this event, I have orthostatic tremors which is a neurological disorder of the legs which prevents me from standing by myself and I am doing this to see and experience the world by giving of myself to help others at the same time while I still have the physical ability to do so.
Thank you so much for supporting me! The total cost of the trip is £3000, 1/3 of my fundraising will go to Girlguiding Scotland and help girls have the best possible experience in guiding. 2/3 of donations will go towards my trip costs including accommodation, travel and the trek itself. Be sure to gift aid it too if you're a UK taxpayer as this means the charity gets even more.
I'll also be doing crafts that I'll be selling at craft fairs and other fundraising too. So please keep an eye on my progress @staceysnepaltrek on Instagram and #staceysnepaltrek on Facebook where I have been logging all my training walks, and trip prep!
