The Parasol Project is an Oxford based charity committed to redressing the balance for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people experiencing, or at risk of, social exclusion.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the half marathon in Oxford to raise funds for the Parasol Project in Oxford.

They are a non profit organisation in Oxford that helps to create opportunities for children with and without disabilities to be socially included.

Having a child with Autism I know too well how easy it is to be excluded from social activities and events just because of a disability. In particular day care, and extra curricular clubs.

In addition having a child with additional needs creates obstacles when sourcing childcare facilities to sustain employment.

The parasol project has no exclusion criteria and not only that they integrate children with and without disabilities which not only promotes inclusion further it is a great learning opportunity for all of the children to learn about diversity.

Resources are slim for children with additional needs and in particular resources for working families to sustain employment, supporting projects like this will help to promote social inclusion, educate diversity and allow working families to remain in employment.
