Story

Sadly, on the 17th January 2020 Stan passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep and was not in any pain. He was strong until the end and fought as long as he could but in the end his body was not able to carry on.

As many of you know, Stan was diagnosed with lung Cancer in 2017, shortly after his 60th birthday. His treatment was administered at Medway hospital, and in particular the Galton day unit, he was also cared for in the Lawrence ward. The staff were fantastic and made the whole experience as pleasant as it can possibly be. In Stan's own words the Lawrence ward 'was like a hotel'.

Stan will be sadly missed by everyone that had the honour to meet him. We want to thank everybody for their love and support over the past 3 years. Stan was well loved and took everything in good humour, facing his illness head on, never complaining and always positive.

He always said how lucky he was to have people like you, his family & friends around him.

Stan was keen to raise money for both the Galton day unit and the Lawrence ward so we will honour that wish. It is our intention to split any funds raised between both wards and any donation, however small will be greatly appreciated by us and the wards that benefit.

Thank you from the Cherry family.
