Liberty - making people is a charity that is very very dear to my heart which  I joined 7 years ago.

Every year a group of volunteers  from UK/USA/Europe go to rural areas in Nigeria to help provide free medical care, eye operations, reading glasses,  medical operation etc.  Every year is a different experience.

We see different people (adult, children, young and old) with different needs some of them we treat there and then but some require returning back home to raise funds in order to sponsor the needs of the people..  I can tell you so many stories of people whose lives have been positively impacted by liberty 

I would like to tell you the reason why i  decided to participate in this event. 

Last year we went to a place called Ogbomoso.  There was a 7-8 year old boy who had lost his hearing for a while.  The mum had been to different places to seek help but everything had failed.  She attended our Ear syringing clinic (this was the first time we had run this clinic) explaining her situation..  The nurse was obviously doubtful considering that this had been a longstanding issue which other medical professionals had been unable to treat up till then, however .on completion of the cleaning of the boys ear to everyones suprise, he said that he could hear!

Imagine that child's future would have been like had the mother not persevered  A deaf child in a rural area of africa...... Liberty has given him the ability to dream and not just dream but dream big.

Liberty has 2 primary schools in Sepeteri and  Immini  in Nigeriar these school are deep in the rural villages where there no other schools.  Children that attend are from the village.

Again,  Imagine what their life would look like if these schools were not available.  At the moment we have only primary school therefore once completed there is no secondary school.  Liberty needs funds to build secondary school.  We want to give them an opportunity to have a stab at having a future and aspiration.
