Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

I aim to raise £10,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, in memory of my father Phil who sadly passed away in December 2009.  He spent his last days in the Marie Curie Hospice in Elswick, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.  The care he received at this unit was of the highest quality and I was so impressed with the staff and facilities. My father was made to feel comfortable and looked after at all  times by the compassionate staff.

My father struggled towards the end of his life, looking after my mother, who suffers from dementia.  He was also devoted to my twin brother Michael, who is severely mentally handicapped and requires round the clock supervision.  He was offered help, and turned it down many times.  Obviously he never asked for help from anyone.  Because of his bravery and perseverance I think it fitting that I give back to the people who helped my father so much.

I will be organising some events in the near future, thanks for reading!
