Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for Macmillan in memory of my mum, Jane, who died of cancer last year. Mum always tried to be positive in her outlook and help people even when she was ill herself. So now its my turn.
My fund raising event takes place in Bolton 4th August 2013 when I and 1,500 other entrants will attempt to complete IRONMAN UK - recognised as one of the toughest one day endurance events in the world.
To complete this challenge I need to swim 2.4 miles in open water, cycle 112 miles and a complete a full marathon (26.2 mile run) - all within 17 hours.
The money raised will allow Macmillan to be there when we need them. I can't speak highly enough of their nurses and the work they do so anything you can donate would be much appreciated.
Over the next 4 weeks leading to IRONMAN I'll be providing updates to let you know how the training is going. I've added some photos from a test triathlon I did in June near Nottingham which comprised 1900m swim, 50 mile bike and 13 mile run completed in 5 hours 25 minutes.
There's also a link to the coverage of last year's IRONMAK UK. The show lasts appx 30 mins and is normally shown on Channel 4.
12/07/2013 - Long Run covering 19 miles in a little over 3 hours. This was the longest run I'll do before IRONMAN UK. I'll be a lot slower on the day after the swim & bike.
24/07/2012 - Into the wind-down period so training is scaling back ready for the big day. Last big test tomorrow, a straight 3,500 meter swim = 140 lengths of Peterhead pool.
