Story
BREAKING NEWS.... Well, I did it! My second marathon was so much better than my first... Fabulous weather, awesome crowds giving us runners magnificent support, and a pair of legs that didnt turn to jelly after 20 miles. I lumbered round in 4 hours and 2 minutes - lopping a whole half hour off my previous time - leaving me feeling unhealthily pleased with myself.
At the finish I was greeted by daughter Leila bursting into tears - I'm not sure if she was overwhelmed by the achievement or the sweaty fumes...
The point of this message is to offer up huge thanks for all the support and donations that made my marathon experience really fantastic.
Lovely Nicola Swann from Just A Drop was there to greet me on the Mall and I know all at JAD are thrilled to have an extra £3.5k to put into their vital water projects, so a big thanks from them and me...
And of course, if any of you would love to help deliver clean water to the kids and families in our world who need it most - and haven't yet done so - IT'S NOT TOO LATE... This justgiving page will take donations for another three months...
Thanks again
Sx
THE BACKSTORY...
When I staggered over the finish line of the 2010 London Marathon I made a private vow never to indulge in such foolishness again.... Well here we are, four years later, and I'm lacing up my running shoes one more time....
Why?
Well, I am a patron of a truly wonderful charity, Just a Drop, which brings clean water to commuities in the poorest parts of the world and transforms tens of thousands of lives every year. JAD is a small, incredibly well-run organisation staffed by dedicated people. The least I can do is help them to help so many others. And all I need you to do is join me by making a donation, small, medium or super-size. Every single penny will be put to good use, so if you can, please do help. Heartfelt thanks from me and all at Just a Drop... Stephen xx
