Fundraising for Maggie's Centres
Hey!
On 17th September in the dead of night (9pm) I am embarking on an epic 20 mile night hike through the streets of London. One look at the chump to the left will tell you he's in no fit state to kitesurf across the channel or walk to paris! (next year's challenges). So if you are able to donate even just a fiver it would be hugely, hugely appreciated..... and means I won't be able to chicken out at the last minute!Thanking you very much in advance!Stephen Sharrocksome info on Maggie's and why I'm doing the walk...Maggie’s is an innovative cancer charity that provides free emotional, psychological and practical support to anyone who has been affected by cancer, their family, friends and carers. Maggie’s Centres are stimulating and uplifting in design and are located next to major NHS cancer treatment centres. We have six purpose built centres, five in Scotland and one in London, with interim services available in South West Wales, Oxford and Lanarkshire. We have ambitious plans to open another 6 centres across the UK by 2012. Maggie’s relies heavily on Night Hikers to raise funds to support our network of Centres across the UK. More than 6,000 people have taken part in the Night Hikes since 2005 raising an outstanding £2.2 million in support of our work across the UK. We need people like you to take part in our challenge events and to raise as much as you can to allow us to continue providing support to people affected by cancer. With one in three people now affected by cancer the need for Maggie’s in the community has never been greater. Depending on which Night Hike you’re taking part in you may visit the Maggie’s Centre on route and see for yourself the invaluable support it provides to cancer sufferers, their family, friends and colleagues* Charities pay a small fee for our service. Find out how much it is and what we do for it.
