Story

My name is Stephen Shayler, i am 28 years old and live in Liverpool.  Just over 12 months ago i was diagnosed with stage 1 Testicular Cancer.  I had a successful operation and was given choice of surveillance or chemotherapy.  I chose surveillance which meant monthly blood tests and physical examination every month for the next 12 months and 3 CT scans one at 3,6 and 12 months.   12 months in everything had been all good bloods all fine 3 and 6 month scans all fine.... Then on the 1st June 2017 i was told the dreaded news after my 12 month CT... 'Your Cancer is back''.

Fast forward to now date of writing this 15/06/2017 i am currently 2 days into my 9 week BEP chemotherapy long long way to go but i am feeling very optimistic.  At the end of 9 weeks i will have another CT scan to determine if the chemotherapy has done it job or if i will need another operation (RPLND).  Lucky for me i have a very small family but a very large group of friends who have been amazing and last but certainly not least an amazing gf who has been here for me all the way.

So today some of my friends visit me in hospital and they decide they dont want me to lose my hair on my own, they want to do it with me.  Thats where this idea came about me and a group of my friends will shave our heads on the 25th of June (hoping mine stays in that long) that gives us over a week to fund raise.

All money raised will go to the charity checkemlads,  this charity is ran by a legend of a man called Philly Morris,  the group has many legends in  however and the advice and support they have given me over the last 12 months has been invaluable.

1st time i ever met Philly he gave me £100 cash didnt really know me at all... You have a 6 year old son yea? ''yea Philly'' take him out dont say no just do it.   Ever since then whenever i have been anxious or worried ring ring Philly is there to save the day i cannot thank him enough only yesterday he was here bringing me monster munch and magazines sat with me for nearly 2 hours just talkin rubbish keeping me positive.

Thank you for reading and sponsor what you can if you can it is for a fantastic charity who i know from personal experience where the money goes and how much time and effort is put into helping and supporting cancer patients and survivors.

If anyone would like to join us in fund raising please let me know :)
