Participants: Thank You To Addenbrooke's Hospital
on 24 February 2012
On the 25th August 2011 our lives changed forever.
After a month of poor health, and being disregarded by our local GP, Janna took our little boy "Jack" to hospital.
Not in our wildest dreams/nightmares could we have imagined what would happen next.
Jack was diagnosed with having a bleed on the brain.
Confused, Distraught, and Scared Jack was rushed by Ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.
On arrival, and after further brain scans it was revealed to us that Jack had a condition called an "ARACHNOID CYST"
Untreated, Jack could have died at anytime.
4 Brain operations, 1 Stomach Operation, 6 weeks in hospital, and now 6 months later Jack is making good progress although now sporting a tube from his head to his tummy, and dealing with the loss of hearing in both ears.
Jack is a remarkable little boy who deserves all the love and support possible to help him recover from this traumatic ordeal.
Although visably shaken from this ordeal, Jack is on the mend, and we hope that one day he will return to the little boy that is full of life, energy, and smiles, that we knew before that life changing day.
So why I am asking for donations. They are not for Jack.
During our 6 week stay in Hospital, inbetween sleeping in the carpark at night, in a chair on the ward, or hiding in the TV room, Myself and Janna were allowed access to Acorn House.
Acorn House is Accomodation where parents are given a room for the night, so they can stay close to their children.
Is is funded purely by donations.
We were lucky enough to spend the best part of a week at Accorn House, and it made such a difference to be able to get back to Jack in Intensive care within minutes, if needed, or just to grap a couple of hours sleep.
I cant thank this charity enough for helping me and Janna through this difficult time and I want to give something back.
In April 2013 I will be running the London Marathon in aid for this great Charity, but that is not the whole story. It is the end of the story, the goal, the conclusion.
My goal and aim it to use the motivation of your donations to tackle something that will benefit Jack in the long term.
A healthy daddy!
On March the 5th 2012 I will be starting a one year fitness drive concluding in running the london marathon.
My goal is to raise the target £1000 which would put up a family in Accorn House for a month.
My second goal is to lose 4 stone in weight, or 56 pounds.
Your donations will help families who do not want to be away from their children.
