Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 27th July 2011 I will be taking part in the London to Paris Bike Ride to raise money for Children's Hospices UK. The ride covers approx 300 miles starting from Crystal Palace and finishing in the centre of Paris.

I want to raise as much money as I possibly can to enable the hospices to continue their amazing work in our communities. Please read below why I need your money and support.

It's every parents worst nightmare to be told their child will die before them. But for an estimated 25,000 families across the UK, this is a reality. Children's hospice services help families like these to deal with the emotional and physical challenges they face and to make the most of life.

Children's Hospices UK is the national charity giving voice and support to all 41 children's hospices across the UK including my local hospice - Demelza House.

The money I raise will be supporting life-limited children and their families in our communities helping them to make the most of every precious moment.

Here are some ways your money could help children at your local hospice.

Just £1 could pay for a child's oxygen mask.

£5 could pay for a ten minute phone conversation at 3am with a parent who "just wants to talk".

It costs around £10 to change a childs drip.

£25 could pay for a music therapy session for a child, giving them the opportunity to express themselves.

Just £50 could pay for an hour of nursing care for a child at home.

£150 for nursing care for one child in a children's hospice.

£500 could pay for a short break for the whole family at a children's hospice, providing some much needed rest and family time.

It costs £1,500 for an extended short break for the entire family.

£15,000 can pay for a care assistant for one year.
