Bath Half Marathon 2018 · 4 March 2018 ·
I've got a brain tumour and was supposed to run the Bath half marathon in March 2018. I was running for the Brain Tumour Charity (TBTC). I managed to double book myself with a work event and was flying home at the time the race started, nice work. Luckily there was more snow than the UK had had in many years so the race was cancelled.
The brain tumour I trained with and would have been running with is an oligodendroglioma (easy for me to say :) ) I'm determined to life live as normal as possible for as long as possible. Although running isn't very normal for me.
My good friend Andy and I covered the 13 miles I missed and have made it past 26+ some, we have decided to enter the Tough Mudder 5K Urban Bristol 2019 on Saturday 6th July 2019.
The seizure frequency has improved and the dog is getting fitter as well, he even looks less disgraced at us at the end of the runs.
The funds raised for TBTC will help them to continue to provide excellent support for families fighting this vile disease and for those unfortunate enough to follow in the future.
Currently around 100,000 people in the UK are living with a brain tumour, putting myself and people like me who carry this evil disease in an exclusive club. Although brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, they receive less than 2% of cancer research funding and survival rates have improved little over the last 40 years.
