The Paras 10 · 31 August 2014

We exist to give a lifetime of support to the wider Army family, regardless of where or when a soldier served. We act swiftly and efficiently in providing support in the form of grants to those who find themselves in real need. We also provide grants to charities who support the wider Army family.

Story

This year Elaine and I are taking on the Double of Trouble. To complete the Double of Trouble we have to successfully complete The Para’s 10’s in Colchester and Catterick. They are both 10 mile races that take place on army training grounds, Elaine will be running the course and I will be tabbing it (so will be running in boots, long trousers and carrying a 35lb pack) which I’m confident will be a bit of challenge.

As these events are organised by the Parachute Regiment it is appropriate that we try and raise some money for a British Army charity and the charity we’ve chosen is ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

The charity provides financial assistance to all soldiers and their families when in need. Half of the money is given direct to individuals to help in areas such as mobility assistance, education bursaries, care home fees and respite breaks. The other half is given as grants to other charities.

The places have not been supplied by the charity, Elaine and I have paid for our places and will pay all the costs required to do them.
