PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We run HOPELINE247 0800 068 4141 a freephone confidential helpline staffed by trained professionals who give advice, support & information to anyone who is feeling suicidal, or concerned that a young person they know may be at risk

Story

Suicide is the biggest killer of under 35's in the UK.

Earlier this year, we were devastated to hear that one of our best friends, Steve ('Gals'), had taken his own life. There isn't a day that passes that we don't think about and miss Steve- he was a true legend. We are now committed to doing everything that we can to offer a lifeline to those at risk of Suicide whilst continuing to raise awareness, and generally change the stigma surrounding Suicide.

Papyrus is a charity that runs HOPELineUK- a confidential support and advice service—phone, text or email, for young people under the age of 35 who may be having thoughts of suicide, as well as anyone concerned about a young person who may be suicidal.

80p in every £1 goes directly towards saving

young lives through keeping HOPELineUK
running, outreach community work and
campaigning.

£20 can pay for one 20 minute call to help a
young person in distress overcome their pain
and stay safe.

£65 can keep the helpline, text and email
services running for over one hour.

£195 can cover the cost of training someone in
Applied Suicide Interven on Skills (ASIST), which
is a two day, skills building workshop that
prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid
interventions.

£500 would enable 30 members of the community to become more suicide aware.

£800 would enable 30 members of the
community to learn how to identify a person at
risk of suicide and understand the reasons why.

£1200 would help us deliver 5 mental health
and suicide awareness sessions to young people.

£2000 would keep HOPELineUK,
the phone, text and email support services, open
for vulnerable young people and those around
them for an entire week.

£5000 would enable 30 members of the
community to be trained in ASIST.
