After the sudden passing of my amazing and much loved mum, Cathy Dunbavin, in December 2020, I wanted to channel my grief in a positive way and challenge myself to run a marathon! I have never been a runner so started the couch to 5k in February 2022 which was a challenge in itself! Having seen improvements each week, I decided to go for it. I applied for a ballot place in this year’s London marathon, which was successful. I have chosen to raise money for the Marina Dalglish Appeal- a charity who are wonderful and provide support for people going through cancer treatment. However, on a personal level, Marina and her team were so supportive to my mum, involving her with other fighters going through similar treatment and made my mum feel that she wasn’t going through this alone- this was invaluable to her. Please join and support me in helping raise funds for this amazing charity in order to aid others in similar situations. For those of you who knew my mum, Cathy- you’ll remember her huge heart, full of love and laughter, who was an inspiration to many and opened her arms and home to everyone. She is so loved and missed and I want to honour her memory to show just how amazing she was. I know this is a huge challenge for me but I know that my mum will be with me the whole way xx  Thanks for your support x
