I am an insulin dependent diabetic and so is my younger brother, in fact it probably runs in the family. Diabetes is a huge problem in society and I expect everyone reading this page will know a friend or relative who is diabetic.

There is no cure for diabetes, it is a 'life sentence'. But research and advice to manage the condition can help diabetics lead as fulfilling a life as possible.

I have been lucky so far with my diabetes, compared with many people. Riding a motorcycle across the US, From Sea to Shining Sea and Back Again, is something I have wanted to do for a long time. The journey is between 13,000 and 15,000 miles, about half riding on my own and half with my wife Catherine.
