Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 17th April I took part in the London Kayakathon ( http://www.londonkayakathon.com/ ), 26.2 mile on the Thames through the City, while the Marathon was running through the streets. Never managed to run the Marathon itself (entered twice but achillies injuries prevented starting), so taking the opportunity to do the distance on the water for a good cause.
The Back Up Trust ( http://www.backuptrust.org.uk/Home ) supports people with spinal injuries to realise their potential, whether that's through adventurous activities, skills training or mentoring. Having enjoyed their courses, volunteered, and jumped out of a plane on their behalf its time to give some more back. Your donations will be much appreciated and well used.
The event went well being blessed with fine weather, a good crowd of people and favourable tides. To have a flotilla of hundred sea-kayaks on the river was a sight to see and joy to be part of. Fun water conditions through the busy reaches of the City with the flows through the bridges and washes from the river boats. A good day out for a good cause and chance to see the river.
Some pictures are at: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?fbid=1342613341414&id=1713632467&aid=36440&l=f1ad82be70
And some more pictures, especially through the City, should be added to the Kayakathon website ( http://www.londonkayakathon.com/ ) soon.
