Story

On February 12th 2015 we lost somebody very close to us in an accident down Bull Pot cave.

Gordon Aitken was an active member of YSS (Yorkshire Subterranean Society) and had been around the UK and Europe, exploring many different cave systems. These caves around Ingleton was where he spent most of his spare time though, and it was here that he was killed.

My mum and I, along with the rest of his family, lost an amazing person that day. He was the man who would always help others before himself, the man who would be up for anything- as long as it were outdoors and adventurous, and the man who would spend his evenings sat on our couch tying and untying knots in his ropes, preparing for the next cave.

The actions of the CRO the night he was killed was to incredible to put into words, and the work they had to go through in order to bring his body back to the surface is a job only few could do.

I'm doing this walk on May 20th to raise money for CRO. Spreading awareness of the great work that they do saving lives above and below ground, and bringing those who may have lost theirs home to those of us waiting for them.

In memory of Gordon. A man who we miss every day, and who I know will be walking along with me all 12 miles of this walk.
