We are an appeal of the ICR and raise funds to make the discoveries that defeat cancer

Story

Alreet,

On April 25th 2010 I will be donning my marathon shoes for the fourth time in the 30th London Marathon. Following the success of fundraising last year for the Boston Marathon in aid of Get Kids Going!, a success owed entirely to you generous people, I have decided once again to raise funds to help with the ol' motivation.

I started training this week (21 Dec) amidst a snowy London, and although I know the drill by now, it still isn't fun dragging myself out of bed six times a week to run in the dark, cold and unforgiving streets of London / Newcastle / Devon. I will be hoping to get a personal best in the race, it will be equally pleasing to raise a decent amount in sponsorship so whatever you donate will be very much appreciated.

The charity I am raising money for is Everyman. Everyman's mission is to stamp out testicular and prostate cancer by making everyone recognise the tell-tale signs, and understand the importance of treating them. By increasing this awareness, the charity hope to raise money to fund life-saving research.

And don't worry, no Santa outfit or any other fancy dress will be involved in this race. I will keep an update on this page of interesting training runs, think of it like a tweet / blog.

I'll finish with a quote from the wordsmith that is Alan Partridge: "Always got to check for extra lumps. Yeah some guys feel a bit uncomfortable about it, but I always say, why not combine it with a scratch?"

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Everyman gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks,

Stuart

Everyman is an appeal run by The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). Every year some 10,000 men lose their lives to prostate cancer and over 2,000 others have their world turned upside down by a diagnosis of testicular cancer. These men are the reason we are fundraising for male specific cancers.
