Story

On 23rd of June 2018, we are a team of 8 nurses from Frimley park hospital who will be walking 30 miles along the Thames path starting from Windsor area through Maidenhead and Henley-on-Thames ending at Tilehurst, Reading.

We are doing this challenge to support the Frimley park hospital stroke unit appeal - Thames path walk, where in between 6 different team we will walk 30 miles each and in total 184 miles of the Thames footpath starting from Gloucestershire in the west to the Thames Barrier in the east.

Stroke is a serious life-threatening condition that happens when the blood supply to the part of the brain is cut off. In the UK, every five minutes there is one person having a stroke which is shocking. People who survive stroke are often left with long-term problems and disabilities. Many requiring longer period of rehabilitation in hospital.

Working in the stroke unit, we as nurses along with the multi-disciplinary team are doing our best to help those patients affected by stroke with their rehabilitation and improve their quality of life. However, there is a lot of room for improvements to be made within the unit and with your help small or big donations we can improve the environment and facilities for our patients and their families to help them during their time within our stroke unit in Frimley Park Hospital.

Thank you for taking your time to visit our page and supporting us. We highly appreciate your donations made for this good cause.
