Story

Sudden Tragic…Mountain lover Iain Murray 62 was found passed away on Wednesday morning
29th Apri2020. It is believed to be heart attack.

Absolutely wonderful guy in every way Iain Murray was fit, energetic, positive, healthy life style and active great outdoor mountain lover. It is awfully sad heart-breaking news for his family friends and all outdoor club members.

Iain is highly praised by everyone who knows him. He was no doubt the kindest loveliest man, father, grandfather, brother, husband and friends anyone could know. All his family friends and mountain clubs are devastated to acknowledge the sudden tragic news; it is a huge loss to all of us.

Iain’s caring loving nature made him so popular among everyone who knows him. Mountain clubs describe him: “Iain was a very popular, selfless, soulful, munro bagger and mountain biker who hosted several club walks with his trusty shorts and a big smile. He was such a lovely man, kind-hearted with a sense of joy, who always looked out for folks. He was most famous - for wearing shorts all year round, even in full on winter (not recommended!) walks. There are photos of him with frost and har on his knees!! He was a real character with a common touch and a love of the great outdoors.”

Iain’s family describe him as best friend, one of life’s true gentlemen! Who was always there for them all, only real man in their life who stood up and looked out for them all.  Devastated is not the word 💔 heart-breaking they lost a big part of their lives. His daughter said: “I’m absolutely heartbroken. My dad was my best friend, Can’t believe he has gone, don’t know what to do without him. Only thing that makes me feel a bit better is knowing he is now together again with my Mum. It was such a shock. Can’t believe it as he is so fit and healthy.” Iain’s Niece: “ Devastated is not the word 💔 heartbreaking today We lost a big part of our life’s, my mums brother, my uncle Iain Murray My father figure, second dad 💔💔 only real man in my life who stood up and looked out for us. Took me holidays in the caravan, teached me to drive, took me on his motorbike (against my mums wishes 😂) just one of life’s true gentleman! Always there for us all.”

Iain’s friends describe him: “The world lost a bright light today, my pal Iain, the yard will be quiet without you”; “Iain could always be counted on and had this knack of making everybody in the room laugh and be happy. His positivity was infectious and although not blood related, he certainly felt like family.”; “One of the warmest, kindest men I’ve ever had the pleasure and honour of knowing... His big cheeky smile and very un funny one liners helped me through some incredibly tough times.”; “I’ll always remember his kind nature, smiling positivity”; “My dad's best friend who was an uncle to us all. Iain you will surely be missed by all. Forever  in our hearts. x💔”

Iain’s colleagues: “The garage will never be the same again 😢💔

Absolutely such a wonderful gentleman in every way, Iain Murray will be sorely missed by his many friends and our thoughts go out to his family at this very difficult time.

In memory of such a wonderful Mountain man mountaineering Clubs society is holding a memorial Hike of Schiehallion with collaboration of Iain’s family to raise fund for Scotish Mountain Rescue Team as per family’s wish to mark Iain’s last Munro, this is a joint event by SunnyAdventures Outdoor Club, Scottish Hillwalking & Activities Group, Glasgow HF Outdoor Club and Glasgow Walking and Hillwalking Club. Iain’s daughter Lisa Murray said: “I know hillwalking clubs really helped my dad after we lost my mum. It was like another family that looked after him too. I’m so lost without him. I was looking forward to doing the last Munro with my dad as well. I was hoping to take my son with us so
his first Munro would have been his papas last. My dad would be so happy to have people donating to the mountain rescue team. He was so happy when he was
walking.”

Anyone can be part of this event by donating on this page or walking with us. Possibility of date is to be on Iain’s Birthday but yet to be confirmed due to the current Lockdown situation.
