The Laila Milly Foundation was set up in 2010 by Maya & Steve McCormack after their daughter Laila was born with a rare neurological condition. Sadly Laila passed away a day before her 1st birthday. They set up a day respite centre in West Yorkshire to provide care for disabled children aged 0-5.

Story

As many of my friends know I've had a lot to overcome so far this year, mainly being able to stand and learning to walk again. The above pic is an achievement in itself, took a lot of effort not to fall, my fave pic as a result! To go from running half marathons to being unable to feel my legs or stand and walk was a major knock and shock. My aim one day when my body is ready, is to get back to running and raise more funds for Laila Milly Foundation and another cause.

In the meantime a fab set of friends (Tillie, Ash, Jonathon and Terry with Maya supporting) are keeping me in the loop and understand my need to still be involved. They've made me smile so much by offering to push me around a 10k in 60mins, a hard job just getting yourself around in that time but to push a 9kg wheelchair and a person in it, now that's true grit. Massive thank you to Sunrise medical and Cary for saving my superheroes backs by providing us with a quicker lighter race friendly chair 😊

We all could not think of a better charity to do this and more races to come than for our own friend Maya's. The Laila Milly Foundation does an absolute fantastic job and Maya works tirelessly always with a sparkle and a smile, with the mums from the centre to keep this much needed and loved service going.

There's no better way to run or wheel it than as superheroes as after all, children of all ages (including the bigger adult kids) love superheroes and my friends to me are superheroes especially Maya x

Any amount you can spare would be appreciated but also if nothing can be spared we still appreciate you taking the time to read my page.
