Story

Suril sadly passed away suddenly on Sunday 2nd October 2022. His death has sent shockwaves through his family, friends, colleagues and everyone he knew.

Suril had not experienced any cardiac symptoms prior to his death, he had been a healthy individual and loved the pursuit of fitness and wellbeing. He had completed running, cycling and obstacle events/courses with great success. We were devastated beyond comprehension when Suril had the cardiac arrest. The wait for tests to determine the cause has been agonising and brought new and complex levels of grief. Advanced tests revealed fibrosis of part of his heart muscle, which would have been present for years.

Prof Behr's team is leading research into Sudden Cardiac Death and developing databases for individuals in a similar position. We hope advancements in this field will help to further understand how individuals can be identified, managed and maybe screened on a larger population basis to allow many others to lead the full potential of their lives, something we wish Suril had the opportunity to do.
