Story

In March 2020 I hit a big Birthday and as a consequence am in a position to retire from paid work and find the time to do all the things that I don't have time to do. One of the challenges that I have always wanted to participate in, is running in the London marathon. What an ideal time to try and achieve this goal. I have been fortunate and have a charity place and am raising funds for this very worthwhile cause. I very much enjoy participating in sport but rugby is one which I take great pleasure in watching. I enjoy watching rugby so much not only for the game on the pitch and the respect shown there but for the respect shown by the spectators and the general camaraderie on the terraces.

There is a risk in anything that we do in life and unfortunately in sport sometimes injuries can be catastrophic. The RFU Injured Players Foundation provide support and information to rugby players in England who sustain a catastrophic spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury playing the game, and help prevent future injuries through vital research. My husband is a rugby referee and sees first hand the importance of keeping the game safe but also the fast paced enjoyment it should be.

For me it so necessary that we look after our bodies and taking part in exercise at any level is so important. I am lucky in that I am still in a position to do what I want to do and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to achieve a long term goal.  What I ask now is for financial support for this charity as a means of supporting me in this goal.

Following eye surgery in 2020 and early 2021, and other important events happening in 2021, I have deferred my entry to 2022. I am running short distances and plan to build on this so I am at my best for October 2022.

Thanks for your support with my London Marathon JustGiving challenge!
