Story
After cycling across the UK in June of 2021, I decided to temporarily
set aside my two-wheeled mode of transport and explore where my little feet might take me. As a result, during September and October, I will be walking the Camino Portuguese (Way of St James) from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The Portuguese pilgrim route that I’ll be walking covers over 300km, and I aim to walk roughly 25km per day. I’ll be carrying all my gear (my meagre pack weighs in at just over 5kg) and walking predominantly northwards up the Atlantic coast. During my little walk, I’ll be popping into many Spanish and Portuguese churches to light a candle, remembering friends lost and celebrating the lives of those still with us.
Back home, our Arkesden church is at a crossroads with the loss
of measurable support during the pandemic increasing the challenge of keeping the roof on, the church warm, and the lights lit. So, I will also be walking to help ensure that our church remains a vibrant social, architectural, and spiritual landmark in our lovely village. I’d be grateful for any support you might be able to give (please be sure to GiftAid!). Thank you.
