The Andrew Edwards Challenge · 17 September 2022

40tude is an innovative charity tackling colon (bowel) cancer, the biggest cancer killer of non-smokers in the UK. However if it's detected early, through regular testing, it can be easy to treat. Early diagnosis can save lives. See our website for more about the symptoms and testing options.

Story

On the 31st December 2020, our dear friend Andrew Edwards, passed away after a 3 year struggle with bowel cancer. His story with the disease is all too familiar and common; early signs ignored being young and healthy, testing deemed taboo, and finally diagnosed at late stage (stage 4) with a painful few years of treatment to follow, but to then finally succumb.

Richard and I met Andrew and Caroline through our kids and have shared many happy times with them all growing up  together .

Andrew was always surrounded by a great deal of friends and was a much loved colleague and leader across the Finance industry that he operated within. He was CEO of ETX Capital and most recently CEO of Saxo UK before his passing.

At the time of his passing, the shock and awe of how this situation could happen to someone of our age, and to be diagnosed at such a late stage, sparked a group of family and friends to commit to trying to make a difference in Andrew’s name, for the benefit of hopefully many others. We formed the Andrew Edwards Challenge Committee, and have partnered up with the chosen established & impactful charity,40tude
