Story
This is the first time i use my resources to raise money for something. It is very exciting and also very scarey. The physical aspect of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will be small (although by no means easy) compared to my personal growth in applying myself to raising money, something which i do not find easy.
I chose Donata's school because i know Donata personally. Her school is located in the town of Mkushi where my brother has his farm. I have huge respect for Donata's endless energy, down to earth personality and lovely smile. She has my admiration in a difficult environment and i know that she will put the money to good use.
She has commented that it will cost 35 euros to put a disabled child through 1 year of school.
Donata has also sent me a list of things she would like to do with the money, ranging from training a teacher (there are deaf and blind children) to buying in broiler chickens to help give the children a diet of protein once in a while.
She is also looking for a regular sponsor, someone who will be able to finance a regular income to the school. She was recently flown to the UK for a awareness mission. This was the first time that she had been in a plane, seen the ocean (be it the Atlantic!) and experienced a flushing toilet in every place she visited.
My climb to Mount Kilimanjaro will be deeply enriched by this fund raising and i am so very grateful for the oppurtunity.
So, on that note i thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
