Story
Seven years ago I ran 35 miles with my uncle, congratulated myself and took a year off. Never did I imagine that it would take seven years to put my trainers back on again.
After Caspar arrived, my physio broke the news that I might never run again and I've felt like a piece of me had been taken away. But it's been five years now and have finally got my shit together and started the long and arduous journey of becoming a runner again.
It's not pretty. I am that person huffing and puffing, with a bright red face, who appears to be barely moving. And I certainly wouldn't be putting myself forward for a 10k... but we had an empty spot at work, begging to be filled and I couldn't resist the chance to do something I once loved for someone I truly admire.
Natalia Spencer is 43, just like me. She's also mother to a gorgeous little five-year-old, just like me. The difference is Elizabeth will be five forever. Stolen by an autoimmune condition, just 18 days are she fell ill.
Natalia lost Elizabeth two years ago and since raised over £240,000, inspiring hundreds of people to do their own act of kindness for Bristol Children's Hospital. If I can add a few more pennies to her incredible total and help save just one life, this will be a run worth doing...
