We support primary schools in rural Kenya to improve education for children.

Story

***Great News!  This year's goal of 4000 UK pounds/$5000 dollars for Kiteghe Primary has been met!  Thank you all so much for helping.  Check out our new page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Suzanne-Payne10

£3.00 (about $4 in USA) will feed 2 children for an entire month!
£18 (about $24 in USA) will feed one child lunch for an entire school year! (That is less than a night out for us in the USA and UK.)

Would you consider giving a little to make a real difference in a child's life? People like you have been helping us feed and support the children of Kiteghe Primary in rural Kenya since 2014.  We could not do it without your kindness and generosity.

We worked with this school on our visit to Kasigau in January 2014. We returned to the UK/USA with a desire in our hearts to make a difference to this community.

African Promise has a holistic approach to education. They work to improve and build school buildings and infrastructure, fund additional teachers' salaries so class sizes can be smaller (40's instead of 60's), provide school meals, textbooks and water collection tanks for drinking water. As a result of this excellent work, attendance has already improved in their partner schools.

We have teamed up with African Promise as they have several programmes in the works already. The feeding programme is close to our heart. With help from people like you, we were able to raise £37,000 (just over $48,000) to feed the whole school for the 2014, 2015, and then the 2016, 2017 and 2018 school year! We even had money to put towards some much needed work on the school itself.

With your donation, they can provide a meal of beans and rice or beans and corn to these precious students. This will not only keep their minds and bodies fueled, but it could also keep them at school all day. In the past, student have walked home during the lunch hour, some long distances, and then not all would return for the afternoon lessons. Those that did return may have done so with an empty tummy. Some children may not have even attend school at all, but do now to take advantage of this programme.

A healthy, well-fed, well-watered child is a child more able to concentrate and learn. African Promise has made futures brighter already for this school. Please help us, to help African Promise continue to support hope for a better future for these children.

We have handmade, woven sisal baskets available, which have been made by the Kasigau ladies. Many of these ladies have children in the school we support. We pay the ladies, in person, their asking price. Then we provide the baskets to people like you. 100% of your donation feeds a child and you get a basket as a reminder of how much you donation is doing in Kenya. Ask to see the baskets we currently have available. (Note: We are unable to collect gift aid if you've had a basket in exchange for your donation).

We also want to continue to contribute to the improvement of their school. A portion of the money raised will also provide funds for other needed projects like building work, provision of school supplies and reading books and to possibly even support teacher salaries and training. Your little bit can go a very long way in Kenya!

Thank you so much...pass it on. We can make a difference together.
