Story
Well we must be crazy to even attempt running a half marathon. As all of you know we do like the *ocassional* glass of wine and haven't even run for the bus never mind for 13.1 miles!!! However it is for a fantastic charity so we are hoping you will get behind us!!
Cancer is a disease that has touched many people’s lives, I’m sure many of you reading this now know someone who has been affected. It is a charity that is extremely close to my heart. In November 2004 my mum, Edna Purdie, was diagnosed with cancer. She was an extremely wonderful, strong and beautiful lady….but despite this she sadly passed away in July 2005. The Macmillan nurses that visited my mum were AMAZING. Not only did they help and support mum but they also assisted my whole family in dealing with what lay ahead. In July 2010 it will be 5½ years since I first encountered Macmillan, and they still stay close to my thoughts. I have always wanted to give something back and help Macmillan continue to delivery the much needed support to others going through similar situations, so when Jen suggested the Chester half marathon it seem like the perfect opportunity. So a big thanks to Jen and Mike for agreeing to run for Macmillan.
Thanks for reading and for all your help and support!!!
Here’s to, hopefully, seeing you at the finishing line!!
Suze, Jen and Mike

Love you Mum xx
FYI
There are currently an estimated 2 million people in the UK who are living with cancer. Macmillan are a charity that help support people who are coping with cancer. They are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer; they also help carers, families and communities.
Just to give you an idea of the difference we could make:
*£10 could pay for 20 copies of ‘The Caner Guide’ - which can help someone recently diagnosed with cancer, and their families, to understand cancer, its treatment and the help available. *£24 could pay for a Macmillan physiotherapist for an hour. *£68 could run a typical small Macmillan Information and Support Centre for an hour. *£100 could enable the Macmillan Benefit Helpline help people affected by cancer to claim £2691 in benefits to which they are entitled. *£156 could run the Cancerline for an hour, providing on average, 13 people affected by cancer with essential information and support. In peak hours the team can receive 76 calls an hour. *£350 could pay for a much needed convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer. *£918 could fun a Macmillan nurse for a working week.99% of Macmillan services are funded entirely through the generosity of their supporters so please donate anything you can. Even if it’s just a pound it can help to make a difference. For more information on Macmillan visit http://www.macmillan.org.uk/
