Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My granddad Ron was a Hallamshire Harrier & won back to back victories in the fell racing monument that is the Hallam Chase in the 30s. He was a fantastic bloke - when he came to visit my friends would come round and ask if he was coming out to play. He had so much life and vitality and warmth and everyone loved him.
I always wanted to have inherited his running gene but hated it at school - slogging round the playing field in the mud and rain. But 3 weeks ago I thought I'd just see if I could do it, if my legs would carry me a tiny bit of that distance towards being a runner like my beloved granddad.
So I chose a warm day - and I went to the seafront - and I found that I could maybe get something out of stretching out my legs and running. Now I like nothing better than being by the sea with the rain in my face or the sun on my back and running a little further every time.
I've chosen to run for Lukemia and Lymphoma Research because of a little girl I've never met and in memory of my granddad Ron - because everyone should have the opportunity to have calm skies and the sun on their back, a following wind and a long road ahead.
