COPS is a UK charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers and police staff who have lost their lives on duty to rebuild their lives. We aim to ensure that surviving family members have the help they need to cope with such tragedy and they remain part of the police family.

On Friday, 25th July I will be extremely proud, and honoured to undertake this very physically demanding endeavour, the ascent and descent of the infamous Rock of Gibraltar, in my standard NHS, casterd, 47 lb wheelchair, accompanied by a fellow RMA Green Lid, to raise funds for two extremely worthy causes. 'My' RMA (Royal Marines Association) charity, (being the proud owner of the coveted and extremely hard earned Green (Lid) beret) and as an ex cop, crippled in the line of duty, COPS (Care Of Police Survivors) charity. The two charities are two very important and very worthy causes indeed. I look forward to my Gibraltar visit  as the name 'Gibraltar' features very prominently in the badge of Her Majesty's Royal Marines because of the elite marines very enviable history and also as the Royal Gibraltar Police are to kindly host our visit. The visit will also be considered somewhat 'Ambassadorial as I will be taking a gift and formal greeting to His Excellency the Governor of Gibraltar and the RGP Commissioner from Merseyside Chief Constable Jon Murphy QPM, as well as a similar greeting from the Mayor of Wirral to His Worship the Mayor of Gibraltar. Our completion of the Gibraltar 'Run' will hopefully create awareness of the two charities and also enhance the coffers of the two deserving and important charities. All donations will be welcome and most gratefully received.
