Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may know, in July 2017 my Grandad was unfortunately diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. This came as a great shock to myself and the rest of the family, and the over last 18 months it has been extremely difficult as you can imagine. My Grandad, Eric, Dad, or Big E to the majority of my friends has been an absolute legend of a guy since his diagnosis, taking his Chemotherapy sessions in his stride, being nothing less than positive and upbeat at all times - regardless of the tiredness and sometimes pain he has been going through! A complete rock of a guy, and true inspiration; I couldn't be a prouder Grandson.

Further to the Chemotherapy, at the end of last year, my Grandad has to have half a thumb removed due to him developing Skin Cancer, and just over a month ago, he completed an intense programme of Radiotherapy, attending Christie's in Oldham daily for four weeks, to which he again, just like his Chemotherapy, completed it successfully, and took in his stride, always seeing the positives, even if he was feeling a little drained and tired. The guys a warrior! (He was more miffed about the traffic on the M60 getting to and from rather than the treatment itself!) The support and treatment received from Christie's has been outstanding, and the love from friends and family over the past 18 months is extremely heartfelt, really helping support us all as a family, helping my Grandad fight this unfortunate disease.

Last year I was inspired to organise a fundraising event to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. Myself, partners, and friends, ran the Great Manchester 10K Run, raising over £2,600.00, and guess what, the same again this year! After last years fantastic effort, myself, and friends listed above have decided to run again, hoping to raise what we can for Prostate Cancer UK, along with a few of the guys running for their own personal reasons, with others trying to put last years wrongs right, as there were some very disappointed faces on the finish line last year when looking at their times!

This year also there has to be a massive thank you to Michaela Longden who is doing a Sky Dive for charity on Sunday 9th June 2019, using this page as her designated donation page, wishing to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK! An unbelievable effort from Michaela, well done! Absolute Legend!!!

Prostate Cancer UK fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life. Many people are unaware that Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men. It’s a huge issue that cannot be ignored. One man will die from prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK. That’s over 11,000 men a year. Based on current trends, if we ignore prostate cancer and do nothing, this number will rise to over 14,500 men a year by 2026.

I really do believe in this amazing organisation, and any donations should you wish to donate will be greatly appreciated from myself and the rest of the guys who are running!

Much Love, Jamie and friends! xxx
