Team: Theo's 200 books

Theo's 200 books · 18 March 2021

For 45 years we’ve led the way in supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and their families, across the North East of England. We work to create a society where autism is understood and accepted, inclusion is the norm, and autistic people can lead fulfilled lives.

Story

In 2020 Theo used lockdown to set himself the challenge of reading 100 books. He wants to do it again but this time it’s bigger. He decided on 200 books after convincing him 1 trillion would take a long time.Theo was diagnosed with Autism in 2019, and since then has gone on to smash his targets. He is academically very able and super intelligent but struggles with concentration and attention. He likes repetition and things to be the same therefore choosing different books to read is a challenge for him As he prefers to read the same books over and over. The North East Autism Society have supported us as a family throughout our journey offering both practical and emotional support.

We are also raising money for The Willow Foundation who were a great support to Marc when he was having treatment for cancer many years ago.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to support Theo. We are looking forward to the library reopening so we can gather some new books. We own a lot but definitely not 200. He also mentioned he wants to learn some new songs. We will be recording these and putting them on his youtube channel... watch this space!
