Abseil Off Ickworth House Rotunda · 20 September 2009

We're a charity that looks after special places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland for ever, for everyone. This includes 780 miles of coastline, over 248,000 hectares of land and over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments gardens and parks and nature reserves.

Story

On Sunday, September 20th 2009 the Taylor Wimpey East Anglia Directors will be abseiling from the roof of the historic rotunda at Ickworth House on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds. The National Trust is offering the chance to scale down the side of this iconic Rotunda as part of its bid to raise £450,000 towards its Real Lives scheme, which will see the kitchens and servants' quarters of the Rotunda opened as they would have been in Edwardian times, bringing alive the memories of those who worked at the house.

Those who take part in the event will be able to see the top of the building up close – as well as enjoying views over the countryside before they make their descent. Those who spectate will witness several grown men reduced to trembling wrecks. There may even be some tears.

You can also forward your pledges by email to the address below, or by post to the TWEA offices at Tartan House in Bury St Edmunds. A paper copy of the sponsor form will also be on the Reception at Tartan House. If you would be kind enough to sponsor us, we are also offering you the opportunity to nominate which Director should be the first to make the jump. The one with the highest number of nominations will lead the others off the edge!

Many thanks in advance – John, Barry, Bryn, Hayden, Mark & Steve (TWEA Directors)
